New Drinking Game

Every time Sarah Palin says the word "maverick" or winks or tries to use a colloquialism, take a drink. The debate just got a whole lot more interesting for "Joe Six-Pack". ;)

Just thought I'd say "Hi"

And let everyone know I didn't drop off the face of the earth. I guess I just haven't really been moved to blog about anything. Although, we have had at least one or two interesting things happen in the last year. Let's see what I can remember...

February: Welcome to the world, Baby Girl! Daniel's brother and his wife had a baby, the first grandchild on his side of the family. Her name is Ainsley and she's darn cute, especially when you squeak at her in high pitched voices because she smiles and tries to eat her fingers. I don't mind telling you all that I don't really love her name, but she can't help it, and that's just my opinion. (Don't tell her mom).

April: We bought a house! After several year and two failed deals, we finally closed the deal. ;)  We now have a cute little stone house in the Douglas-Edgemere neighborhood of N. OKC, complete with a knotty pine room that we painted almost immediately. For you natural knotty pine fans out there, too bad. We also have quite a large yard for a metro neighborhood, so if anyone wants to come play badminton, there's plenty of room once we tear out the wild random garden in the middle of the backyard. We have really nice neighbors and many wild neighborhood kitties that Daniel has chronically failed to snare (the kitties, not the neighbors).

June: I got my hair cut. Hey, it was a big deal. I hadn't had my hair cut in over a year. And I got bangs. You may call it a monthly/bi-monthlyish occurrence, but I call it an epoch.

July: Oh! Canada! We finally took a real vacation for a decent amount of time and flew to Calgary to see my aunt and her family. My parents and sisters joined us a few days later, and we spent the week visiting Banff and Jasper National Park in the Alberta province. It was fantastic scenery and we got to escape the humidity for awhile. I wish I was there now instead of melting in this 100ยบ+ Oklahoma heat.

What's up next?

August: Daniel has a work conference in San Diego for a week, so he'll be living it up on the company's dime. I intend to go out and meet him for 3 days and also live it up on the company's dime. Yea for the company's really good dime!

Beyond August? Who knows? Maybe I'll post again someday.

And a Happy New Year!

"To our newcomers, welcome! To our old hands -- welcome back! There is a time for speech-making, and this is not it. Tuck in!" Random Dumbledore quote that popped into my head. Anyway...

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

So yeah...It's been awhile. I'm still alive and kicking, but mostly just working at the paper. It's going pretty well. Still no new house, but I guess we're getting ready to start looking again. Oddly, I can't remember too much of the past year at the moment (due in no part to alcohol consumption, I honestly just can't remember). Probably the biggest change this year has been that I joined Netflix as a result of the WGA strike. Gotta have my TV fix, right?  I kid (I think), but the past year's highlights include getting a new sister-in-law, finding out I'm going to be an Auntie in March, and going on a trip to Taos this past September with Daniel. Daniel and I spent the Holiday season all over the place, going back and forth between Muskogee and OKC. It's a little tough, but I know many people have it worse. We had a good time seeing all the family. Last night was our 2nd Anniversary in addition to New Years Eve. We got to spend it at the New Years Eve Gala downtown at the Skirvin because I embarrassed myself. Yes, I decided to do something I've never done before and called in to a radio station that was giving tickets away. And what did I do? I'll tell you what I did. I sang Auld Lang Syne on KOMA for all of the Metro area to hear. I'm a bit embarrassed about that, but at least Daniel and I got to have a good time and enjoy a premium open bar.

Anyway, just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I'm off to pick out my anniversary present because Daniel didn't get anything for me yet.

Long Time No Type

Not much to report. Anyone else see Pushing Daisies on Wednesday? http://dynamic.abc.go.com/streaming/landing
It was awesome! It was original! It's probably doomed to failure. :(  Here's hoping it's not.

And Tuck Fexas! Boomer Sooner!
